Hello fellow amateur radio people!
Yep, it’s getting close to being time for the ‘10 for Texas’ multi-distance (well, the 10 mile is the main/long distance) RUN event in The Woodlands.
Enjoyed by many, this is a recurring event that we’ve had the opportunity to help with.
‘Opportunity’ because it helps us be seen, and a chance to dust off our equipment (if it’s been idle) and brush up our skills, while also providing a service for the township, who run the event.
This event will be done by 11am or so, with progressive releasing along the way, from an on-station target time of 7AM.
We like to have a pre-event gathering / tee shirt distribution / food if you want it, at a local foodery before hand, and it provides a nice environment in which to meet the other persons helping and get to know them a bit more. It helps to be able to put a name and face with the voice!
It’s also an easy event to work, with most assignments being fixed location of one type or another, and can be largely worked with a hand-held.
I’ll have my web-based maps available to help get you set up and aware of where your assignment is located, the same thing that often helps with many other events, such as the houston marathon, bike around the bay, the ms-150, the woodlands marathon, the buffalo bayou regatta, and many more.
If you’re available to help with the event, please visit https://www.woodlands-event-comms.info, and follow the links for the 10 for Texas event, and you’ll find one for registering to help. If you have any issues, you may find better success using google’s Chrome browser on a desktop computer.
If you’re able to help by spreading the word about the event and needing helpers, please do!
All types of help are appreciated, and, yes, it takes a village to pull this sort of thing off well, so please, by all means, jump in and help in whatever way you’re able.
And, a special thank you to those that have helped in the past. Hopefully you’ll be able to help this time too! ![]()
Best Regards,
Peter KE5STL
